“I have spent most of my life in kitchens after commencing my first chef’s apprenticeship in France at the age of 14. My family has always worked with food so it’s no surprise I followed in their footsteps and ended up making a new home in the food capital of the world.
Travel to Vietnam in 2016 connected me with some amazing chocolate makers and this is where the dream of Atypic was born. After a lifetime of loving and working with chocolate, I never really knew how to make it. After meeting with farmers and visiting plantations I knew this was where I wanted to focus my energy.
With the help of two friends, who believed in this vision, we created a partnership and decided to make our own chocolate. We didn’t want to make products from other people’s chocolate. If we were going to do this, it needed to be truly ours right from the very beginning. We wanted to be sure of every ingredient going into our products and have the opportunity to play with different<br />flavour profiles.
Just like my business partners and many Melburnians, Australia is our second home and this together with our diverse strengths make us a great team. When you are far from home your friends become your family, just like our partners from the Pacific – you become part of a community and our love of chocolate connects us all.
Our name Atypic comes from the French word Atypical which sums us up perfectly. We’re unconventional and always looking for an opportunity to be creative and do things a little differently. We are Artiste Chocolatiers because we don’t just create a product, it’s an art based on years of passion and experience to deliver the very finest chocolate.
We are proud of our range and we hope you love it too.”
